@SideHugzzRock actually that's wrong. Sinterklass was the western european corruption of Saint Nikolas. Who owned a profitable fishing enterprise, was known to be very generous, supposedly went down a chimney to give a dowery to a poor family in secret wrapped in socks and burned down the temple of artemis. last one's probably not that christmasy. The tree does come from a roman festival of saturnalia and the german festival of yule. Both of which were incorporated by euro christians.

Actually the original Santa Claus was saint nick, a real person. He was a very generous man who lived in turkey. He gave present to children who didn't have much to make there Christmas time just a bit happier. When he died sinterklaas was created to keep the tradition alive and not disappoint the children he gave gifts too.
