It was not exactly his race because he wanted to win. On the other hand it was a race for Macca that was so very special compared to other races because he worked himself out of a deep trough. Listen to his words, he is a great analyzer, very honest to himself, very outspoken, very special as a person.
He is a real biest athlete, authentic in many ways.
@Technopunkster bad comment what are you a teenager....

you guys should not use one race to dictate who is going to win at Kona, a lot of those guys use races like alcatraz and other Ironman races as a prep and to gauge their fitness levels, for example Craig Alexander took 3rd at Alcatraz in 2008 and was using it as a prep race. I think Crowie is going to be another strong contender to triple win at Kona, but I think Lieto is going to be very hungry and he has all the tools to win the race...should be a great one!!

Macca is strong, but I am going to put my money on Andy Potts 2010. He looked strong in New Orleans and Macca dropped out after T1

Great interview! I've always liked Macca and think he's an absolutely terrific athlete and competitor, and this interview substantiates this fact for me even more.
