This version doesn't have the lyrics written all over the video. It's way too distractive, and I don't know. Personally, I would watch the video without the lyrics. So there. Enjoy, all the same.

Maybe.

Maybe it was just Cloud. When he thought he'd be able to make it in the SOLDIER program. He was either very reckless, or plain stupid. But he made it in, anyway.

He was a part of the Shin-Ra army. Just some sort of program to train him for SOLDIER. Maybe it was just him. But he was never taken seriously. He was just a small kid the other big guys could beat up. He was just a lie. Nothing but a big joke.

Maybe it was just him. Living in silent oppression was never easy. He felt like giving up. But he felt like he'll be getting somewhere. Maybe it's just him.

But Zack had always been watching. It wasn't half as easy, watching the blonde get picked on, at. It wasn't easy watching him fail.

Maybe it was just Zack, when he thought he could bring comfort to the younger man, but he did. He tried, and tried.

The smaller man was hard to crack. He seemed cynical, for the most part. Why would anyone want to become a friend to him? What would they get, out of a failure?

Maybe it was Cloud, when he felt that everything, even what Zack said and did, was just deceiving. Maybe. Maybe.

Maybe it was Zack, when he felt the other unopen to his friendship, to his love. Maybe, maybe.

One day, Zack had to face a decision. One of those things wherein he could never turn back.

It was either die for the blonde, or share an eternity together, as caged experimental specimen in the laboratory, where they'll eventually die of mako intoxication.

Maybe it was just Zack, when he thought that Cloud would be able to move on just that easily.

Maybe it was just Cloud, when he thought Zack just let go of everything. Needless to say, Zack's sacrifice was for Cloud, and not for anyone else.

Maybe it was just Cloud, when he wanted to be like Zack, who wanted to be a hero.

It's true that Zack wasn't as great as Sephiroth, seeing that the latter was revered as the strongest of SOLDIER. But he became Cloud's hero.

Zack Fair. Never deceived Cloud. With all the things he said and did. Maybe it was just Cloud, when he felt that Zack enveloped him, in sugar-coated lies, just to hurt him more.

Their final embrace proved the blonde wrong.

The story rightfully earned me a series of bashing. Most of which, I took light-heartedly, but some, I could not discard so easily. And kids, being the spiteful, hateful people that they are, really have to rub it in.

But that's okay.

Maybe Zack saw a bit of himself in Cloud, maybe that's y he helped him. Zack wanted nothing in return, maybe he just wanted to be a hero. Maybe Cloud didn't realize Zack's good deeds and friendship until after the ultimate sacrifice. Maybe that hit home; just the motivation needed to carry on Zack's legacy. Maybe Cloud has a bit of Zack in him now. Maybe Zack's death shattered Cloud a bit. Maybe Cloud came to Aeris in peices, for her to make him whole again but was struck down by her death.

nice vid :D love the transitions of clips. But the song,, hmmm hope that nextime you'd make more vids like this but with instrumental songs? or songs that aren't widely known? coz,, personally i don't really LIKE secondhand serenade hahaha. the vid would reaaaally and truly be wonderful if you made your own track though hahahaha. thats originality! and that would be waaaay cooler hahaha but i like the vid. it was great.
