if these guys are blind why are they wearing blindfolds?

two reasons:

1. Some of them are more blind than others.. while legally blind they might see shadows giving them an unfair advantage.

2. To protect their delicate if non-functioning eyes..... not to mention their heads.... should they slam into some or something as they run at high speeds without being able to see what's ahead of them
