I bought this N1 universal due to seeing tons of exhaust system and muffler replacement videos right here on youtube. I never saw one specifically on a Chevy Aveo, but I had seen demos on other small 4 cylinder cars. I liked what I heard out of the Apex N1 muffler the best so I went ahead and bought one. This is the 90mm or 3.5 inch version and everything else from the muffler forward to the block is still stock. This muffler is nice and deep and installed as a rear muffler replacement. The noise level in the car is quite minimal, but more than stock since these cars have almost NO exhaust noise from the factory. At idle or on the open road or at cruising RPM you don't really notice much of a cabin difference over stock unless you are really stepping on it. I have heard however if you strip out all of your resonators and converters it can be very loud. The tone you hear on the video is pretty accurate to what you hear in person. I would SERIOUSLY DOUBT that a cop would ever pull you over specifically for this muffler unless you REALLY lay into it right when you are passing one. Even then I doubt he'd have a leg to stand on since any "illegal" mustang with no converters and an X pipe is probably twice as loud... or ANY HARLEY DAVIDSON is about 3-4 times as loud and way more harsh than the Apex. Word to the wise.. if for some reason you do get pulled over for a moving violation of some sort.. turn the car off before the cop gets to your car... no sense in giving him a reason to mention something about your exhaust tone. :)

  • I have had thoughts of removing everything from the Apexi forward to the block, but don't want to because I have a a Honda Del Sol Si that has had the entire exhaust system replaced and it is VERY loud. The del sol has a 120mm exhaust muffler much like the Apexi, but the Apexi is 90mm. The del sol also has had a replaced header and 2.5" exhaust pipes all the way. Sounds good, but it is a bit loud for daily driving. For DD I prefer a bit less noise.

  • Possibly, but dunno what they weigh.. I figure a yugo, sprint, and geo are all in kind of that same range.

  • I have a 1974 Chevy Vega with a stock 2.3 Sohc Inline 4 Cyl it has 85 hp and 122 ft of Tq you think it could compete with a Stock Chevy Aveo?

  • 85 is quite a few less than the 108 I am currently at. I don't know how much your car weighs, but mine stock weighs about 3200 pounds. I've dropped a few pounds with the intake and exhaust, but not much. I bet the Vega is probably pretty heavy being built in the 70's, but I don't know anything about them. Anyway... unless it is very light I'd say that being about 28 horsepower down from the Aveo there would not be much contest there.

  • so to install these muffler is the same as replacing a factory one right?

  • The N1 Universal went right where the original factory rear muffler used to be. Nothing else on the exhaust was replaced.
