Nureyev is perfect as Le spectre de la Rose. So sensitive and delicate with beautiful and masculine ballet movements. He is a beautiful man. And when they dance together their arms are beautifully embraced. It reminded me of Alexandra Danilova's and Frederick Franklin's arms in the Waltz Duet in Gaité Parisienne, that black and white beautiful film. Thank you so much for sharing it. These pieces of Art keep us alive and make us happy when we're down. I'll watch it once more. Thanks.

Thanks for this I'd never seen him do this role he's such a beautiful dancer. And OH this music..I think it's one of my most favourite musical selections in ballet. I would kill to do this role. I hope I can one day.

Rudi is superb in this role. He has the delicacy and sensitivity and musicality to personify the Rose. He had such beautiful line and form and such classic technique he never hops about like so many boys do as the Rose, but actually dances each step gracefuly and artfully, with the character fully clearly drawn Each movement of hands arms etc is done in character and with grace.I love his style and have seen none who can best him in a romantic role.

The audio of this clip awfully lags behind the video. It is really painful to watch. I watched the original performance in the decade of 1970. Denise Jackson & Nureyev were exceptional. It is the best Le Spectre de la Rose so far. Unfortunately, the beginning & the ending sections are cut off, a real pity. I was really impressed by the performance & acting of Denise Jackson when I watched the show in 1970's. As to Rudolf Nureyev, he is no doubt one the best ballet dancers in our time.

In a lot of solos you need to watch Rudi first to make sense of the music as he is perfectly on it. And then, if need be, watch other people dancing. In this piece, many dancers just hop around. Rudi actually dances to the music. Wonderful.

Ballerina's name is Denise Sutherland. This is her married name. I don't know her maiden name.
Beautiful. Nureyev's is by far my favorite Le Spectre de la Rose. Thanks for sharing.
