  • The Road being absolutely shut out at last year's Oscars with 0 nominations was a travesty, but the omission that upset me the most was Viggo's Best Actor snub. All I had to do was read the plot description of both Crazy Heart and Invictus to know that the Academy would eat it up and nominate Bridges and Freeman for Best Actor.

And The Blind Side nominated for Best Picture? Really? Over this? Over A Single Man? Over Bright Star? Jesus Christ.

  • @chuppachoppa It's a tough thing to swallow especially in the year they went with 10 nominees instead of five. You'd think the film might have merited a slot from voters more than Up being nominated in two categories, too. But me (the guy behind Irv's camera), I'm still smarting from Gangs of NY coming home empty-handed, so there's always something for somebody to be irked about! :)

  • Awesome acting, but it should win the most depressing movie of the year award

  • @muffinman9797 Now maybe if they'd invent a few creative categories like the one you suggest, the Oscar ratings would go up a little :) Thanks for watching!

Word of mouth is the only thing that will get this movie to the masses. From what I hear Hollywood did not want to touch this movie with a 10 foot pole. Marketing people are stupid and can only market stuff that has already been marketed. You have never seen anything like The Road.

  • I only drove 40 miles to see it. I want to drive another 40 to see it again.

The Road reminded me of District 9 in some ways.

You are left to figure out the fine details on your own. So refreshing.

Great acting with what feels like real human emotion and reactin to extreme circumstances.

The book "The Road" scarred me for life as a father. The movie is just as hard core.

  • The only thing that I did not like was the ending... it was just to bleh... I mean it just gave a too much of a happy ending... I think the only reason they did that is so people wont have too much depression.

  • @MoviesUnlimitedInc I'm a pretty big King fan, but IMO most movies made of his books are pretty poor adaptations. I wouldn't consider The Green Mile one of his best stories (though I quite enjoyed it)... it was an experiment in 'serial' novellas originally, anyway. I haven't seen the movie version, but I doubt I'd love it either, as I'm not much of a Tom Hanks fan! :) I've not seen the B&W version of The Mist either (its only on the US DVDs) but I don't know if that can fix the film's problems!

  • @BanjoOz I (Irv's cameraman) was always curious about The Mist (book & movie), especially after reading that the movie was released with Darabont's "alternate" B&W version. Though I must confess ahead of time I wasn't a fan of the Green Mile film. Thanks for writing in!

  • @MoviesUnlimitedInc Spoilers can be a pain... but read the book of The Mist instead, it's better than the movie anyway.

  • @hanseykemmerer Hey, don't blame King for that mess... the original ending has them survive, but director Darabont made up his OWN different ending to The Mist! :)

  • @hanseykemmerer Two spoilers in one comment! I guess I don't have to actually watch "The Mist" now :) Thanks for checking out our review. Most folks seem to agree "The Road" was a sorely overlooked movie. --Irv's Man Behind the Camera
