Pigtronix Echolution vs. Electrix Filter Factory

I strummed a chord on my SG which was in DADGAD tuning. I used the Echolution tap switches 1/2 & 3/4 then hit the loop switch. I fed that loop thru the Filter Factory - I manually changed the filter cutoff, and also used the envelope follower. I added some Evolver stuff - a lead and a bass patch. Robbie the Robot monitored the session.

what is the max time on the loop setting? and can you use delay ontop of the loop or layer loops? thanks-i love all you videos

The longest loop/delay is 20 seconds. You cannot layer on top of the loop - once you engage the loop switch it disengages the delay. I think the best feature is the sound of the unit...it is really warm. The modulation, reverse, and multi-tap switches are also very cool. I had a Korg SDD-3000 and the Echolution is very similar in warmth. The Echolution is kind of like an instrument in and of itself.

it's really amazing how guitarists go apeshit over gear that basically does what synths have been doing for years. what's equally amazing is that he's using a Dave Smith Poly Evolver, one of the coolest synths out there, and playing yr standard boring "sawtooth lead" with it. dump the pedals and program that synth!

HAH, I got it! When the synth came in, I was thinking "wow, that sounds a lot like Rick Wright's synth sound in Shine On You Crazy Diamond..." then the camera zoomed up on the patch name... VIBEY tune! ... so is Shine On.
