Released in February 1939 and directed by Harold French, "Dead men are dangerous" is a brisk and well paced drama starring Robert Newton in his first leading role, as an author who attempts to solve his problems by switching identities with a dead man he discovers during a violent thunderstorm.
This film was shown twice on C4 during the 1980s but since then has slipped back into total obscurity, as indicated by the complete lack of any comments on the Internet Movie Data base about it.

No wonder they called him 'the man with the handsome eyes!'!

Robert Newton was such a great actor, so much more to him than 'Treasure Island'.

A spot of quality acting from Robert Newton, in an above average UK film, must have missed it on TV CH4. Production values seem better than usual for the late 1930's
