LATOSA= The most overrated guy in Escrima. And why? Because he tells everyone only his style is the best, all the others use fancy movements....that's why he is overrated; he doesn't learn from others, he is allready swimming in his giant Ego(trip) WAKE UP !!! Mabuhay

There's a lot of petty rivalries in FMA. This likely has to do with the fact that FMA systems are derived from clans and families as opposed to schools the way they are in other parts of Asia. I'm not really surprised to see people badmouth Rene anymore because chances are they are students of a flashier twirling style and have had their egos ruffled.

I MET Rene Latosa years ago...the guy doesn't have any ego or gives you any bs, when he says somethign works, it damn well works and he even teaches you how to find your own way and how to find yourself the 1000 variations of a single movement and it's ramifications. He truly sports the title Grandmaster in caps for he surely is

The hits of René Latosa (with and without weapons) are the fastest and strongest which I have ever seen. His Concepts are logical and unequaled. In addition, he remains modest. In a nutshell: For me he is the one and only GRANDMASTER.

I heard an interview with Rene Latosa, which was around 1 to 2 hours. Not a single time during that interview did he come through as an egotripper or self-indulgent person. On the contrary, he really made me confident in my choice to study his system. And my teachers who have also studied under him, holds him in very high regard. He seems to be a very honorful, down to earth man. Which his system reflects. Why not do more with less?
