Those movies are a bit too serious with their anti-fascist message to include in this weird mix of space stuff. They're statements about America (the latest one is about religious crusading, and they'll probably make more)

Ok here I go thinking again, so there's no body armor that these ground troops can wear for some type of protection? Seems kind of odd they have all these high tech weapons and no defense against the phasers and what not...

a phaser can easily penetrate any body armour.
maybe they do have skintight forcefields which give them some protection, which is why the phaser must be set on maximum setting to penetrate it, and that's why they can't just vaporize the enemy with a wide beam, and also why the phasers seem to run out of energy so quickly.
