The collective noun for a flock of starlings is a 'murmuration'. It is a most apt name for this highly gregarious species. This flock of over 50,000 was filmed at Strumpshaw Fen in the Norfolk Broads on the 17th December, 2011.
This film includes a bit of the pre-roost build-up where the smaller flocks start coming together. So, please skip along to about 5:30 to see the largest and densest flock.
