Hands Together is a Catholic missionary charity working in Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere. Founded in 1986 by Father Tom Hagan and Doug Campbell, Hands Together operates schools and clinics and food programs throughout Haiti. They also work in the rural regions of Haiti, helping build wells for clean drinking water and providing agricultural and irrigation assistance to poor villages.

This video highlights the work being done in the area of education in Cite Soleil, a slum of population 500,000 located in Port-au-Prince. Cite Soleil has been described by the United Nations as "the most dangerous place on earth." It is taken a longer movie called "Hands Together: Mission Haiti" that was provided through the generosity of Holy Family Church in South Pasadena, California.

  • Praying that all are well at Hands Together. Does anyone know how Fr. Tom is doing?

  • We received word this morning that Father Tom and Doug are both safe. Doug flew down yesterday morning and we hadn't heard, we had a long night, but that news is good. Both are OK. But our home there is destroyed - and Port-au-Prince is in chaos. Keep praying for the people of Haiti. Thanks.

  • The homily at St. Hugo of the Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan was given Sunday By Father Tom. His heartfelt comments really made an impression on me. I wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to him and to the others that are carrying on this work in these depressing conditions. He had a message for all of us...young, old, married, single, .......and I was listening.

  • Fr. Tom is doing well, considering he got trapped in the rubble and sustained soft tissue injuries. Met with him last week at what remains of Hands Together headquarters in Port-au-Prince. Still has his remarkable sense of humor.

  • Thank you... so many are praying and still wondering how others are doing. Peace, Bill

  • Thank you Father Hagan for coming to share your work and story with us at St. Teresa of Avila this week. You are an inspiration! Please tell us how we can help your mission more and if there are opportunities available to visit. Blessings to you, Doug, your team and the people!

  • I would like to be a part of your effort in a few years somehow. I am getting an RN degree in May and hope I can travel to Haiti and make a difference there someday.

  • God Bless you Brothers!

  • You guys are doing a wonderful job.

    Congratulations.
