Xenosaga Episode 3: Erde Kaiser Sigma battle

Erm yeah, I'm aware that my Jin is *a bit* overpowered. I just needed to kill Sigma quickly so the video would be up to 10 minutes at most, then I could post it on Youtube without having to split it XD

It may sound time consuming to get this powerful, but it takes less then 5 hours actually. What I did was just buy a bunch of STR Upgrade and give em to Jin. I got money from killing Azazel/Amaro for Sephirotic Cane and the other monsters in the screen right before the last boss. Killing them are equally easy since your Jin should get really strong as you give STR Upgrade to him. You want to give him the Heaven's Door (EP=1) so you have almost infinite EP for your most powerful skills usage in this process. The boost should fill at least once in every Jin's move (aim for ALL hitting moves), so just keep boosting him and repeating all the killing until you feel you're strong enough.

Some strategies work on any level though:

- Give your main attacker a Beam Avatar (AddBeam elemental to weapon);
- Give your main attacker a Nine Stones bracelet (absorb Sigma's physical counter), then you don't have to worry with Null E-Counter/Revenge;
- Max Boost of 9 is recommended (Evangelist necklace [+3 boost] is a rare drop from Azazel/Amaro), but that's optional. A max of 4 will be fine;
- Have M-type critical ability for all attackers;
- Things like EP reducing rings, M type damage reducer always help.
- Best Ally is your friend at low levels, but in this video I didn't have any use for it.

What I did in this battle was:

Make Jin have absolute critical Heaven's Tracker, and recast it whenever necessary;
- Have him hack Sigma up until it start using his shields;
- Destroy Sigma's shields I, II and III with Erde Kaiser summons (each summon destroy one different shield, see the video to know which destroy which;
- Continue depleting the now defenseless Sigma with whatever you like, and finish with a Special attack for FS bonus.

That particular last move is quite a punch on Sigma since Jin has Absolute Critical/Offensive up, and at this point Sigma is weak against Lighting element; Sigma also has Skin Down and Hilbert Effect on him. I've done almost 60k damage in this last move before (with the exact same setup/characters), I'm not sure why the damage was only 40k-ish this time.

Haven´t played the Xenosaga stories yet, only Xenogears. However, I do think they should´ve kept somehow the old combo system from Xenogears imho. Maybe I´m just being sentimental, but it was quite a hookup with the semi-interactive combat system idea there. I guess that lazyness is the problem to why they didn´t go with it P:

@MangaManiac Well I find Xenogears battle system the best to this day. Xenosaga 3 has the most simple one, yet is pretty enjoyable cause you can focus on other stuff. The 2nd saga has the most complicated since there's no formula on how to kill the enemies, you have a particular combination of moves to each character. As in, each one has one weakness but there's no way to tell until you try them out on each enemy, or just have an walkthough with you. It's a pain in any case =p

@chaos88ful well I agree that the battle system isnt too deep on Episode 3, especially compared to episode 2.. but it was fun, and the graphics, storyline and music was outstanding. I did play a crapload of RPGs before i played the Xenosaga series so i dont think im biased at all. im not new to rpg's at all. This will still remain one of my fav games of all times. I dont know what rpg's you like and im pretty curious, but to each his own interests.

@heyjeySigma Actually, I know what I'm missing out in, I played the game... I'm sorry, I don't mean to bash on your bubble or say that this game sucks but, the game just doesn't have enough gameplay to really make it stand out when compared to other games. Very slow and repetitive battle scenario, the game only benefits those who are new to RPG games or just went for the game for only the story. Being a Game Designer myself, I've seen many games and this game doesn't stand out.

This battle was really disappointing for me the first time I did it. I has KOS-MOS, Jr., and MOMO for my team. First turn, KOS-MOS and MOMO use Blood Dancer and Jr. uses safety on MOMO. Second turn, KOS-MOS uses Platinum Stinger, MOMO used another Offensive, and Jr. used Overtaker. Next turn, KOS-MOS and MOMO just destroy him with D-TENERITAS and Fire Bolt III. I saved after that and decided I actually wanted to fight him for real without the buffs, and man was it hard...
