STORY OF THE TRIP TO COPENHAGEN Friday September 23rd, the Pivenelsacco and Franco Calanca land in sunny Copenhagen. Led by Italian friends, Christiania is reached easily, and there the house of our host Henrick. We are staying in his painting studio in the midst of his artistic creations of rare beauty. He gives us delicious crab claws accompanied by a good Danish beer for lunch. The evening was characterized by a series of Italian and Danish groups that take turns on the stage opposite the track of Gra Hall, including the excellent Banda Roncati. After the show, with the heat and the desire to continue playing, we head towards Christiania's bar, Woodstock, where with a series of solo pieces by the great Franco Calanca, we gain the necessity for a beer. But I am only twenty-two, the desire to play is still so great, and the evening is still long. We decide to place them at one point in the case of Christiania and continue to play. When the melody begins to spread through the air, the little knot of people swells to become an enthusiastic audience for our sound. In a crescendo of participation, Marcello decided to give up the bagpipes to give air to his vein dancer. It is the climax. A Babel of faces, nationalities, and languages are thrown in the dances, our brave Marcello demonstrates his loose dances, but the joy is so great. The euphoria in the air one breathes makes any movement possible, any popular dance, on the notes that transcend the definitions, boundaries and barriers, to form a cosmopolitan melody, ranging from Emilia to Salento. Anna and Gino and their Pizziche recall even the few Italians around Christiania, who throw themselves in the dances, and we "give change" to the bagpipes, to participate in the multi-cultural climax. The next day we head towards the center of Copenhagen with the intention of playing and selling some of Pivenelsacco's CDs. The events far exceed the most optimistic expectations with the bagpipes that draw your attention to the Danish people's amazement. On the last evening of Manuel and Marcello, the desire to play is still great. We decide to head to Woodstock with the intention of a little enjoyment. The bagpipes are doing their best, with a euphoric Franco that delights Romanian and Galician audiences, with the melodies of popular traditions, so that a boy, given the similarity between our bagpipes and his Gaita, he tries to grapple with one of our instruments! Marcello opens this evening's dances with the tune of the Waltz at midnight, while the cheering audience appreciates and offers us something to drink on several occasions. There is also time for a dance of the humps among the general euphoria, with Gino, Marcello, and Manuel to entertain the public on the notes of Franco's bagpipes, who proves his mastery a series of solos worthy of notes. In conclusion, we can say that the Italian bagpipes have done their duty.
