I have been in these Kremlin churches and have seen singing groups like these men. They are awesome, and truly you listen to their music and it makes me feel close to our God.

O Gladsome Light is sung every Saturday evening at Vespers in the Orthodox Church. There may be different melodies but the words are the same everywhere in the world.

Russia is is famous for their menschoirs, been there seen it life. Especially there Basses are fabulous. Amd whats interresting, many of them cant read notes, sing everything by ear. Almost just as as good, are the chinese Munks. Fortunatly i also had the opportunity to see them life in China.

@Toffeesturn Valaam is a Monastery in Russia. There are many Russian Orthodox Chants (typically sung in Church Slavonic, not Russian) that originate from this Monastery... or are in the style of the chants sung by the Monks at Valaam.

@g8tor03 That translation is so off as to be basically wrong. Someone tried to make English poetry out of it, but you can't do that without mangling the sense. No Orthodox bishop I know would ever approve such a travesty of a translation in any of his parishes.

Just to put this in context, it's the entrance hymn from Vespers, sung after the conclusion of the main set of thematic hymns for the day ("Lord I have cried unto thee"; that is, a set of verses structured around selections from Psalms 141, 130, and 117.)
