  • Only in the Philippines will you find a candidate getting votes due to popularity regardless of wether or not the person is qualified to be in office. Former President Joseph Estafa is a perfect example.

  • Corrupt. Corruption has been a major problem in the Philippines due to the lack of actions from those who are supposed to prosecute the guilty. Go to the Philippines and the first thing that greets you upon arriving at the airport are money hungry workers who eagerly awaits for a bribe in return for a free pass inspection of your luggages. Talk about first impression, right? Sad!

  • jinggoy... tama.. tagalugin mo na nga lang... hahahahahaha

  • It's very important to be well educated in laws and politics plus economics to be an efficient governing individual. One major problem the country has is the ignorance of the voting population when it comes to picking their candidates. Any candidates offering monies or gifts to people to get their support should be a red flag on anyone's mind. A responsible voter must consider the candidate's past, present promises and his future hopes for the people.

  • @TheGerryjoy

In all fairness to Erap, he was a mayor, a senator, a vp, before becoming president.

Who decides the 'qualification' to be in office anyway? - when all the constitution requires is that, one must be able to read and write (among other 'residency' reqs).

The election of the president should be enough to show that the people deem him/her qualified for the position.

'Qualification to be in office' may not be the main issue as much as an honest to goodness sense of ethics.

  • Kung may batas tayong kamatayan doon sa mga taong magnanakaw ng kaban ng bayan, matagal ng patay si manny villar.
