Extending a downspout - Andy Bell of Handyman Matters talks to us about extending the downspout on your rain gutters three to four feet away from the house to meet uniform building codes. He shows three different products for keeping water away from the house -- a traditional metal downspout that gets in the way of the backyard gate, a green plastic roll-up downspout that is not durable and then a subterranean downspout that solves the problem perfectly. It's a simple and elegant solution that doesn't cost a lot and it protects the foundation of your home form water damage.
