Everybody knows NY's Rockefeller Drug Laws are unjust, irrational and ineffective; they destroy individual lives, families and communities, and undermine the fundamentals of a just democracy. Enough is enough: New York must reform its drug laws now. Carole Eady is an example of what can happen if judges are allowed to use their discretion when giving out sentences. The Rockefeller Drug Laws force judges to sentence people charged with nonviolent drug crimes to prison for years. Instead of going to prison, Carole was lucky enough to get into a treatment program. Having turned her life around, she is now an accomplished professor and activist. We need more people like Carole in New York, not more prisoners. Help make that happen: www.nyclu.org/RockefellerReform. Videographer: Alberto Morales
