Heather Laws, with Robert Cunningham and Amy Justman, sings "Not Getting Married Today" from the 2006 revival of Stephen Sondheim's "Company."

This video is an excerpt from the highly recommended 2008 PBS DVD "Company." Unfortunately, the DVD is Region 1 only (US/Canada DVD players or worldwide PC DVD players).

In 2007, "Company" won Tony Awards for "Best Revival of a Musical" and "Best Direction of a Musical (John Doyle)." Raúl was nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical. The original 1970 production was nominated for 12 Tony awards and won 6 of them.

There are many great version of this song available:

  • I love that she whisper "And don't tell Paul."

  • This isn't the original production. It's an entirely new production. A totally different take on a great show. It wouldn't kill people to have an OPEN MIND, which is something people need in the creative and performing arts

  • @aqua1993 Really. Having seen the original four times, I can assure you there is no comparison. What's missing? The Michael Bennett choreography, the brilliant Boris Aronson set, and most importantly, the "Tick Tock" number which is essential to understanding the character of Bobby. The George Furth book, however, is still terrible. Finally, this is a musical about New York City. In this production it could have been set in Sheboygan, Wisconsin...........with tricked out musical instruments.

  • @sporran564 Really? :( I love it. :)

  • She's good, but Beth Howland is still the standard bearer. Also, this production was just awful.

  • 4:34 Bobby's thinking: I'll think stay single.

  • I was supposed to sing this (as Amy) for my theatre arts program... Haha that was a joke. We cut it. Way to difficult for a bunch of kids to learn in two weeks. It was insane.

  • Heather is a goddess. Katie Finneran also sung the hell out of Amy in the New York Phil concert

  • Doyouwannaseeacrazyladyfallapartinfrontofyou??

LOL. This is my favorite song in the musical. Amazing!

  • @firestar070 Yeah, but can they understand the lyrics? I suppose it depends on the individual viewer, but when I watch this recording with people, it usually takes a couple viewings to understand what Susan's singing.
