Thanks goes out to nvanbockxmeer whose comment on my channel reminded me to start training victorians on rings. Just, wow, I surprised myself with these ones, it looks like that lever training is paying off big time.
Just so everyone knows, this isn't my very first time trying these I've tried maybe 3 or 4 single times before this, but this was my first serious effort where I decided to start training them.
In the first clip I played around with different widths to see which was easier, medium then close then wide. After that I went and watched a couple of Danny Rodriguez' videos and saw his super false grip. The second and third clip was me attempting to get a false grip by rolling my wrists out as I lowered. As you can see, this made a HUGE difference.
I also did a couple more sets and one where I swung from high rings and tried to stall it out, as was suggested to me by my Crossfit/gymnastics buddy Russell. All in all it went WAY better than I expected and I will definitely keep training this until I get it solidly. After tonight I feel like it's a when, not an if.
Overall it's been a great week, as I also did about 30 weighted one arm pullups- not on the same arm but total. I maxed at 2 1/2 to 3 on both arms holding a 25 lb. plate then did a bunch holding a 14 and 10 lb. medicine ball. Will definitely get a video of that, hopefully this week. 2010 looks like its gonna be my strongest year ever.
P.S. if you haven't seen Danny Rodriguez' video this is the one that helped me out. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iAHS2YfRlso right at 0:27 you get a good shot of his grip, angle of his arms, and looks like he's slightly bending his arms to lock himself into place. Also the still frame at the end of my clip is a reference for me so I can track my progress, this is the frame just as I start to fall.
I'm no gymnast, but you don't look all that far off, especially for a first training day
