    Watch the water for dark patches, wind accrossing the water. Basically keep your focus at the environment and not as focused toward the boat. Adjust your sails just before the wind hits your sail(s) if necessary. New sailors are to focus at the boat instead they should be focus at environment they are sailing in.

  • i hate boats with no traveller, its much easier to drop the traveller down before touching the main sheet

  • @fx02zbn the little waves on the water are closer together, and look darker than the rest of the water. If you are on a run and you see one of these behind you, you will get a gust as soon as the wind catches up with you.

  • easy on a little boat, but it will rip your fingers apart on a larger boat..

    

  • Thanks for posting. How can you tell when a puff of wind is on it's way before it hits you?
