Seems someone is claiming to have finally obtain the rights to System Shock 2 and is planning on releasing it on GOG this week and Steam as soon as Valve accepts it. Hopefully it turns out to be true since my disc copy is starting to "wear out".

Whenever I think of SS1, this twisted line plays in my mind. It's weird because it was not part of the game itself, only a test file played inside game's separate audio setup program. Yet it almost freezes my blood every time I hear it, even today - almost 20 years after.

There is no reason to be so polarized, some people just missed system shock. What he said is perfectly valid from his experience because nothing says you have to partake in media in the order that it arrives in, or be restricted toward elating what came before. Bartleby The Scrivener reminds me of Office Space, not the other way around, because I encountered them in that order. This whole "kids these days" attitude is getting really boring.

Or you know, the fact that the system was designed in the likeness of a woman to lend some normalcy to interacting with an artificial intelligence. A positive reaction means that the entity is either inhuman enough to be before the uncanny valley, or perfect enough to be past it. To desire either is human nature, much like becoming attached to a character from literature. Imagination is required for fictional characters though, so its not for everyone.
