Both feet were off the ice when he made contact with Van Ryn, but there such a minimal gap between it, that its just a natural reaction to making a hit.

for van ryn's sake it was probably a good thing the glass broke.. otherwise he wouldve been crushed between the glass and mr beast... the glass breaking relieved that pressure.
