Saw these guys at the Village Vanguard in 1982. They tore it up and I was an instant fan. They did some great work with mingus before he died. Perhaps one of the best sax solos is George playing "Orange was the Color of her dress then Silk Blue" the Mingus's changes Two Album. They were as has been stated a great band. RIP George Danny and Don...

In the 80s I saw the Adams-Pullen-Quartett three times in Berlin, first at the old "Quartier Latin" and later on at the "Quasimodo"-Club. I was very impressed, the band is still one of my favorite groups in jazz. Unfortunatley three of them are dead, but not in my heart and mind. Great and expressive musicians! Thank you for posting this!

Bad, bad, bad. proper s***. Top, F******* notch!

Looks like the vid was taken on one of their periodic visits to Ronnie Scott's, where I saw them two or three times. What an outstanding band, one of the most exciting at the time. Charles Fox described them as taking you to the edge, but never quite into the abyss; rooted in jazz structures but with terrific free expression.

God bless George,Don and Dannie!!!I.......I'll never forget seeing them in that great Mingus band of 1974(with Jack Walrath on trumpet)at a place called The Main Point,in Bryn Mawr,Pa. Was anyone out there at that concert?

Awesome example of the blues! What a fantastic tenor sound!!!

I heard this band back in the 80 in the "Stadtgarten" in Aarburg. Wild sax playing by John Adams. The horn seemed to transform itself in a snake. It seemed softening while crying all kind of sounds. And wonderfull hammering piano sound by Don Pullen. He treated the keybord with his fists...
