The Young Choreographer's Lab is for young dancers, ages 14 - 20, interested in pursuing their artistic visions as choreographers. Participants have the opportunity to investigate themselves as artists, learning choreography tools and concepts through short movement studies. Each Fall, up to 25 diverse dancers are selected for the program that meets each Saturday for eight weeks in the heart of Capitol Hill. In the Winter and Spring selected participants create a larger workâall under the mentorship of leading Seattle choreographers. ALL DANCE BACKGROUNDS & STYLES OF DANCERS ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!
Instructors have included renowned choreographers: Donald Byrd (Spectrum Dance), Kirsten Cooper (Westlake), Sonia Dawkins (SD/Prism), Anne Gilbert (Creative Dance Center), Mark Haim (independent), Patricia Lent (Merce Cunningham Dance Company), Gregory Maqoma (South African guest artist), KT Niehoff (lingo) and Amy O'Neal (lead mentor/choreographer).
