Volunteerism High schools require it; community organizations desperately need it; and here at Montgomery College students, faculty and staff are giving back and gaining some experience and knowledge in the process.

On this new episode of Campus Conversations we explore how some Montgomery College faculty have integrated service learning activities into their coursework, giving students the opportunity to bring what they are learning in the classroom out into the community.

Hosts Fritzi Bodenheimer and Marcus Rosano discuss the concept of service learning with one of our Service Learning Coordinators; talk to faculty and students about their service learning projects; and visit the Germantown Campus to hear about an alternative spring break program that took students and staff to Mississippi to help rebuild a community damaged in during Hurricane Katrina. This episode also examines how the Montgomery County Volunteer Center helps to match people with organizations in need of volunteers.
