I don't know if Scientology funded this but I have studied neuroscience for years (I have studied a whole shelve of books on neuroscience plus a couple boxes of papers) and I swear that this entire documentary is the TRUTH. Trust me! This is the best documentary I've seen and it saves me a lot of trouble of explaining this horrible situation to lay people. Ideally they should add some explanation of neurotransmitters and how the drugs block signalling in the brain.

all those drugs do, is just "tune out" what signals doctors choose to tune out. your body may need those signals, and blocking them out, could be potentially life threatening too! stop using drugs and think about the damage that they cause not only to the brain, but also to the bloodstreams, the heart, the kidneys, and the stomach along with the colon. thank you for this series. it saves my life all the more and tells me not to take that trash again.

Oh also most ADs 'cause sexual dysfunction (inability to orgasm) and in my mind that's a serious serious health warning! Me personally I experienced that on Sertraline aka Zoloft (only 50mg) and then when I switched to St John's Wort (which acts like an SSRI) that thankfully went.

I would say in my experience side effects do exist but go fairly quickly. My first week on Sertraline tho was hell that's for sure! I had tremor, cold sweats, loss of appetite and obssesive thoughts of suicide after that I had about 3 weeks where I felt optimistic on it but then sunk back to feeling consistently low. I have situational depression and that at the moment appears can't be resolved by ADs. I switched to St John's Wort that was ineffective too and now I'm trying 5HTP & Tyrosine.

@ZeroFiftyNine Just go to their website, and click on ABOUT - states right there if was cofounded by CoS!

Plus the fact nothing is peer reviewed in this - the big $ $ numbers they throw around, or any of the speakers in this thing - who to say the ones claimed to be psychiatrists are? Or are they just CoS drones...

@aodscarecrow I was really dismayed watching this, as I have been taking antidepressants for years. But something really bothered me throughout watching this, before I knew it was produced by the CoS - I know many people who are really HELPED by psychotropic drugs.
this is not true!!!!

@svoni Sure it is. Just not for everybody that takes them, but the majority are over prescribed and or misdiagnosed. Few people really "need" these drugs. So can you guide us to your facts that disprove or show us that this is not true? I'm going to call your bluff and say you don't really know or have the facts to back it up. Patient: Hey Doc, my dog died and I've been really sad/ upset/ depressed about it for the last month. Doc: Here take these pills and come back next month. $Cha-ching$
