Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church Cathedral Choir presents Open Our Eyes on 2-21-10. Open our eyes, O loving and compassionate Jesus, that we may behold thee walking beside us in our sorrow. Thou hast made death glorious and triumphant. For through its portals we enter into the presence of the living God. Open our eyes, O loving and compassionate Jesus, that we may see to follow thee. Amen.
this choir sounds very very good.... we sang this song at my church a little slower paced but it still sounds great the way you all did it.

I used to conduct this in the '70's. It is nice to finally hear it instead of conducting it. The tenors ALWAYS had to "tighten up the jockey shorts" for this one. Thanks. Presbyterian Church Choir always seemed to know this one. Outside of them, though, there seemed to be a lack of knowledge on this anthem.

@4Topwood Yes, that's just about at the top of my list. Try these: Go Not Far From Me by Zigarelli “Lord, for Thy tender mercy's sake” by Richard Farrant "Nunc Dimittis" by A. Gretchaninof The Last Words David by Randall Thompson

Yes, I tend to think of Will MacFarlane and Leo Sowerby as organists, first and foremost, yet they composed my two favorite modern sacred choral pieces, this, and Sowerby's "I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes" .
