I was about 16 when this abum came out. Between my 3 older sisters and me, we played it over and over for like a year. It would drive my dad crazy, but after several months he finally started to appreciate theri talent. He especailly liked "Something" (on the flip side.

@GameCherryDotCom For me, personally, it is the best ever. The horns and that whole part in "Carry that Weight" that bring "You Never Give Me Your Money" into the mix of the medley - that tells you that the wave of consciousness that Paul was working from at the time was something special. Plus, this medley (minus "Her Majesty) is comprised of the best phrases that, when combined, start and end a song. (I consider it to be one song.)

I cry. Every time. No idea why, either, but by the time The End slows down, I'm just in tears. What a great set of solos, what a great finale to a masterful album (and career, if you don't count Let it Be).

Listen to 4:00 when the guitar solo starts. You will here three different guitar solos, each about 4 seconds long. Liten close, you can tell the three apart. The sharper sound is Paul McCartney's solo, then the higher pitched solo is George Harrison, and the final, fuzzy, distorted sound is John Lennon's solo. They repeat each other a few times, Paul, George, John, Paul, George, John, etc until "and in the end..." is sung. Listen close, you can hear each play their own solos, merged into one

My appreciation and awe was solidified after attempting to play Paul's bass runs and singing...the man was a genius at a very young age. Put his heart and soul into the music and it definitely shows! There will never be such a band in all the history of the world to come! Love the Beatles!!!

@JaneFokster dont you mean, just like heaven? (Cure reference) hehe
What a voice McCartney had. He could sing lovely ballads with unadorned emotion and shout out rock tunes like Little Richard. He could sing the sweetest harmonies with John and George. All while playing intricate, melodious bass runs.
