Hiding online friend notifications
When you have friends that log in and out of second life, you will be notified on your screen in a dialog box each time they log on or off. These notifications are turned on by default. If you want to suppress them you can go to Edit menu -- Preferences -- General tab, then uncheck the box in front of "Show Online Friend Notifications".
