Nice! Thanks for checking and thanks for making these videos. That WILL be perfect for stacking. I'll take a little laptop into the field and have some fun! Of course I could have just rotated the focus ring myself but who needs that? It's 2008 baby!

how do you make an object transparent e.g. a ghost or window???

Not sure what you mean, but you can take multiple exposures and blend them.

Can you manually adjust focus using the computer software? I would like to do focus stacking and would rather the camera be able to finely adjust focus rather than me turning the focus ring.
Thanks!

Yes and no. You cannot manually focus the camera to an arbitrary distance, however you can automatically focus with tripod live view mode because it allows you to choose any point on the screen to focus on. You cannot automate it though.

Ah, too bad. I really liked that feature on the Canon 40D's camera control software. I would still choose the D300 in a heartbeat, but still. It would be so easy to implement. The camera can obviously adjust the focus of the lens.
Nikon - Please give us click buttons to manually adjust the focus in little steps.
Thanks, bastian74!

You know what I checked again and it DOES support manual focus control. It lets you adjust the focus one step at a time, forward and backward as well as set how much of a change in focus each step is. Perfect for stacking.

I forgot to mention, manual focus control from the PC is only available in live view tripod mode. And again, when I say Nikon CaptureNX I mean to say Nikon Camera Control Pro 2.
