This configuration should be Xiahou Yuan's best setup. There are a lot of rules of thumb or guidelines fulfilled with this setup. But before I begin, keep in mind that my previous recording of Xiahou Yuan with the Ice Arrows is not an alternative, but more of a novelty setup, exploiting the extremely high freezing rate of his C1. Anyhow, refer to the video description of that recording for more information.

Here are some of those maximization guidelines fulfilled with this setup:
1) Once a character has a Musou filling move that can be abused without many limitations, for example safe charge execution and recovery, a long Musou bar should be considered to maximize that character's moveset.
2) This leads to the omission of the Ginseng, which allows Xiahou Yuan to equip the Way of Musou. Since Xiahou Yuan's Musou is a juggling Musou, and is weaker than average, he benefits more from having a long fire Musou.

Xiahou Yuan's C1 filling method only needs enough safety distance for execution. As a result, he'll need to run around until he's safe enough to execute it. This is the reason for a full Speed40 bonus. As shown at many points in this recording, he doesn't have to run for very long at all to create an opening for his C1. Now, Xiahou Yuan can still outrun crowds with just a Speed20 bonus, well enough to execute C1 with a Medium weapon, but he has to run for a lot longer. So before I get questions on whether the Speed Scroll is useless or not, it's important to understand that needing to run for less time means more efficiency. Being able to do C1 more frequently in this case for Xiahou Yuan is far more valuable than having higher Fill or higher Bow for better Musou filling ability.

His comparison to Huang Zhong is very very interesting. Huang Zhong's maximized setup has a maxed out Musou bar with Musou40 bonus. This allows him to KO generics easily in one True Musou. However, Xiahou Yuan's Musou damage is a lot stronger than Huang Zhong's. Even though Xiahou Yuan's True Musou with a Musou20 bonus still can't KO a generic, it comes pretty close. But anyway, Huang Zhong's allowed this maxed out Musou length because his JC eliminates the need for the Speed Scroll. Also, his C1 is a much better Musou filler.

Xiahou Yuan's True Musou with a Musou20 increase, comes somewhat close to defeating generics in one go. Depending on the crowd size, he'll need an average of 2 to 3 C1's to fill his long Musou. During this process of filling, he'll deal enough damage to the officer for his True Musou to be able to finish off the officer. So this offense is definitely superior to anything I've shown in the past.

Most of you know this already from past recordings, but it's important to skip the last hit of his C1, because this hit isn't piercing.

Oh ya, of course, the ability to have the Way of Musou equipped, makes it more beneficial to give him the Ice Orb, for maximum damage potential. Although, he can probably attempt freezing officers only in small crowds or in Musou Rage.

This stage was chosen again because it has a lot of obstacles for Xiahou Yuan. Like with Huang Zhong, Yuan's maximization methods are severely limited by presence of archers, and steep slopes. So do keep in mind that if I chose the same stage for all characters like i used to do, Xiahou Yuan would be a lot better than shown in this video. But......it's not like I did show much of the offense discussed above in this recording anyway, as I abused Musou Rages for a good chunk of this video.

Anyway, I show enough "regular" combat against Huang Zhong for people to equate it to the rest of the stage. It shouldn't be hard to see that Xiahou Yuan can do decently well against the tough scenarios in this stage without Musou Rage.

ya not sure. Fu Xi and Xu Zhu have always been sort of low, because of musou inconsistency, even though they fill fast. Ice is usually the cure, like with SSX, but Fu Xi and Xu Zhu are very bad at freezing
