Armed standoff along U.S. border

Mexican soldiers and civilian smugglers had an armed standoff with nearly 30 U.S. law enforcement officials on the Rio Grande in Texas Monday afternoon, according to Texas police and the FBI.

If Mexico cannot control their government forces then maybe it is time the US places infantry units on the border. Mexican military units found on US soil should submit to immediate arrest or face US military force. They are a sister country but expecting federal, state, and local law enforcement to face down the military might of a foreign nation is idiotic. We law enforcement officers are trained to Mirandize not vaporize. The US military should be involved more than they currently are.

If the violence was to spill you can bet that the national gaurd and a squadron of Black Hawks would be up..toss in a few F-16 or F-15 Eagles and this is coming to and end pretty quick with only a US Marine mop up to follow.
