January 24, 2010, our Ford Flex SEL AWD takes a spin with Paul at the wheel. The time was 1:27 + 2 penalties for cones but it felt more like 1 and a half days. While the Flex handled the course well shod with the incomparable Nokian Hakka R SUV tyres I stupidly forgot to disable the traction control. Although it may not look it, most of the course was polished to glare ice by the time I got on it. I will admit I'm still getting used to driving such a long wheelbase vehicle, but I am very pleased with the handling for a vehicle of its size and purpose. Enjoy the video....
talking about long wheelbases. the first car i had was a '73 caprice four door with a 400 small block. i moded the motor a little and had fun all year round. winter was the best time of the year. big motor, rear wheel drive, no t/c. all it took was a stray thought to get the back sliding. Just remember, keep an "eye" on the rear. with a LWB you don't feel deviations in the rear as well with a SWB.
