Lowe's Woodworkers Shop Class host, Keith Flippen, begins working on a new beach chair. In Part 1 of this series, Keith builds the back for the wooden beach chair.
Each back is made of 2 back supports, 2 back cleats and a dowel. The back supports are made of two smaller pieces of wood, which you should cut to length with the miter saw. Apply a waterproof glue to the surface and clamp the two boards together evenly. Leave it over night. Do this same process for the second back support. Once they are dry, mark the angle you want and cut the bottom edge. Drill pivot holes with a 1 inch drill bit to complete the back support.
Now you can cut the back cleats to the proper width and length using a table saw and miter saw, respectively. Also, cut the dowel to length. Once everything is ready, you can attach all the pieces together. Lay the two back supports 21 inches apart from outside edge to outside edge. Attach the back cleats to the back edge of the supports with glue and stainless steel screws. Finally, add glue to the ends of the dowel and insert into the dowel holes.
Watch the next video in the 'How to Build a Beach Chair' series to learn how to make the slatted seat.

I like that Lowe's is trying to show people how to make things BUT,
Awful instructions when you don't give any dimensions for placement of cuts, holes etc. When you have 10 minutes to show how to do this why do you cram it into three? You have plenty of time to give a LOT more detail .

I guess the words "go ahead" is your favorite phrase. Sounds a bit dumb to me.
