Shooting: Barnes has a sweet textbook jumper that is mechanically sound and consistent. His feet are squared up on every catch, allowing him to get off quick shots coming off ball screens and on the spot up. He elevates off the ground, has a quicker trigger and releases it higher at a point where its tougher to block or disrupt on the perimeter. Very deadly and consistent around 15 feet with excellent perimeter shooting touch and excels at knocking down the midrange jumper off a quick dribble or two. Much better from 3-point distance shooting off the catch than the dribble, mostly getting quality looks by coming off down screens screens off ball from the free throw line to get quick looks at the top of the arc. Has great depth on his jumper, but normally won't take anything deeper than it needs to be and usually opts for smart shots. Isn't afraid to shoot with pressure, but with his ability to create space, it isn't too hard to get a good look after creating separation from his man. Although his shooting percentages from the perimeter might say otherwise, Harrison Barnes is one of the better shooters in NCAA basketball. Not shy about launching from 3 either, as he averaged 5.3 3-point attempts per game as a freshman and a lot of those coming in transition or spot ups. Can be coerced into taking some tough shots with pressure, but normally doesn't make it harder on himself on the perimeter than it needs to be. Struggled with his confidence shooting the ball early in the season, which can mislead his true accuracy and will be much better as a sophomore. Made a number of big time, clutch shots under pressure and is a guy who can be trusted with the ball in his hand for the last shot.
