I fabricated a mount to fit my Sony DSC-W55 camera on my Swift, and was finally able to do some regular flying with it mounted. It was rather windy, and I've gone back to stock Swift paddles so the cyclic is a bit jerky. Oh well, it was still fun. To see higher res version, add &fmt=6 to the end of the URL and reload.

  • If it wasn't for the wind noise this would sound alot like from the inside of a Jet Ranger.

  • Hehe, cool. Next time there will be less wind noise, I've found something to tape over the microphone to keep the wind out.

  • sweet, nice and smooth flying man!

  • Thanks! Gotta love how smooth big helis can be. :^)

  • Fabulous! Love the onboard sounds. Put mic foam over the mic and you might just get rid of the wind noise.

  • You know, I don't understand how the sound is as good as it is. The camera (and mic) is directly under the blades, in the downwash! The only time there is "wind noise" is when sitting still, or when the gusty wind comes in from the side at certain angles. Very odd.

  • Yep, we have a designated heli area at the RC club. The landing pad and pilot station are some little plastic square things. Check out my Swift thread on RCG ("tales of the swift", in the electric heli talk forum) to see some pics of my camera setup.

  • Nice man, I like the spiraling towards the ground shots. Yes I definitely want to try a camera on my 550 whenever I get it built. Great video man. BTW is the little squares the designated heli landing zone and Pilot spot. I noticed you were on a piece of cardboard or sumthing too? Also post a pic of your Swift setup I am curious to see it. Awesome stuff man!

  • WOOT WOOT

  • Give me a little more time to practice my autos, and I'll do one with camera onboard. ;)
