Although this was a big international dance hit for Taka (sister of Chaka Khan), the video is quite rare. This song was written by Lenny Macaluso and Phyllis Molinary, and produced by Bob Esty. Interestingly, two years later it was covered by pop singer Meri D. Marshall -- but she changed it to "I'm Thru with Him" (still, a very good version). Enjoy this! -- Justin Kantor

  • Taka has stated that this is the only record she wished shehad never made -she hated it. I happen to really like this song - it was one of my favorites of 1983. The video is absolutley dreadful, though, her 'acting' is more like a drag queen's performance. I'm sure Takak would cringe if she saw this on youtube. LOL

  • Initially, I was not too keen on the song. But I have to say that, in its own way, the video got me more into it! It's quite campy, and it works well in the context of this song!

  • @retrorhythms

Someone posted this video on Taka Boom's FB page and she deleted it (!).

  • @BabyJaneHudson She didn't delete it! I actually asked her before I posted it on there, and she gave me the go-ahead. It's still on there.

  • This is what I needed to hear today. LOL

  • A very good upbeat dance track for its time!

    Thanks for posting.

  • THIS IS CHAKA KHANS SISTER

  • macho girl black and mistery song.

  • This was remade (and very nicely, I add) by The Three Degrees in 1993. They called it "I'm Thru With Him" (but kept the "to hell with him" lyric towards the end of the song.) It's really a great cover, you all should check it out. It's got a nice disco flair to it, despite being recorded ten years after Taka's.

  • @BabyJaneHudson have you written a letter to daddy lately my darling??! :*D

    xoxoxo

  • you tell em girl, to hell with him!

  • Looks like her sister.....voice difference though

  • I saw her sing this live (to track) at San Francisco's legendary/defunct I-Beam Dance Club in the Haight Ashbury... around 1983 or 84. I have pictures! I also bought the 12"-single... It was about 8 minutes or so long.
