Hi, @z28r2fast4u
It`s not thermal compound, it`s thermal glue, there are other names for it.
a heat sink can not hold on to a buffer ic or any other ic without it unless the heat sink has some kind of clamp like a PC cpu has.
i ordered it a few days ago.

This is an awesome video. You're doing a great service to the DIY community. I have a Vizio VP50 HDTV20A 50"Plasma that has a Samsung panel. The buffers are similar to yours but have 4 chips, 3 panel connectors, and 1 Y-MAIN connector per board LJ41-05121A and 05122A are the part numbers. Due to different configuration I'm hoping you'll know how I can test mine with a meter and identify the faulty chips. Thanks

@z28r2fast4u Have you done an LA46F81 buffer board? Causing my TV image to shake when using HDMI and AV inputs. Funny thing is, component input is stable. No shake at all.

Would you happen to know how to repair the buffer board for the LA46F81 model? Only my component input is stable. HDMI inputs and AV inputs have a shaky picture problem for the bottom half especially when I use my XBOX360. Been looking for a replacement board but unsuccessful.

@z28r2fast4u The cheap low quality aluminum heat sinks is the problem. Add better sinks, and get more heat way faster will improve the life span.

@atvrhtd One does not, no way, no how, nor ever have to be an authorized technician. Authorized technicians are for the warranty only. When you buy electronics, you pay two hidden fees you may not know about. The cost of that manufacture warranty, and the cost to recycle that device at its end of life. They don’t care what you do with it after you give them the money. They no longer own it, you do. If it doesn’t break or you don’t send it back when its dead, then its Win Win for them. 876543210
Hi z28r2fast4u, great video, i wouldn`t have attempted this without it.
do you know the name of the white glue that goes between the heat sink and the ic chip, i know it`s not regular thermal paste because it`s harder, it is also used for the mostet.
thank you

@z28r2fast4u Hey Keith I'm having trouble with my 42" plasma. I have red and black vertical lines going all the way up my screen. I had a diagnostic test done and the technician said I needed to replace my power board, x-main board, and logic board. I bought and installed the new parts myself and saved about $300. I still had the lines so I replaced the y-sustain board and y buffer board but that did not fix the problem. I'm really not sure what to do next. I would greatly appreciate any advice.
