@Italy42180 exactly, the spring isn't strong enough or there is a manufacturing defect that causes it to be stuck open.. good turbo if you go EWG in my opinion.. others will disagree though. I did a 800 mile check up on mine, no shaft play, no excessive blow by, etc.. all is well!

@eautocad Thanks for the info, I got one with the internal gate, I assume its the one with the problem. If there is an issue with the wastegate, I assume It just wont hold boost?

@Italy42180 yep it's the td06-20ghw found on Ebay. Please know that these turbo's have issues with the wastegate and that I'm using a TIAL external wastegate to fix this issue. If you buy the ebay turbo, you should do the same.

@WhitterJohn free up the intake and exhaust.. depending on your budget is to what extent you push it. If money isn't a problem, go with a 20g turbo, external wastegate, new manifold, TGV deletes, walbro 255, 850 to 910 cc injectors, new fuel rails/ fuel pressure regulator, port the stock headers (keeps low end), get a new up pipe and down pipe, go with an electric cutout placed a few feet behind the turbo, and do a free flow cat back exhaust like N1 or similar. That should put you around 400

- I must say that is a BEAUTIFUL replica WRC car, Excellent build! All you need now is a replica WRC exhaust. They look and sound just like the real rally car.
I also had a question about the wastegate, is the problem in the spring in the actuator that opens up to early, is it too soft or something? or the opposite and the door doesnt open properly, resulting in overboost?
I'd love to have a camera pointed at your dashboard showing the speed-O and Tach-O.

@Xphearous thanks dash.. i think the faulty wastegates were leaking under boost, so the spring must be weak. I've also heard of them getting stuck open too, so maybe it's a manufacturing defect. I've got the car ripped apart again and I'm freeing up unsprung weight from the drive line (pulleys, flywheel, clutch) then I'm going for a tune so the fun can begin.. will def post speedo vids
