This video was all taken today when the Philly "Only Ones" decided to interpret PA state law to suit their own desires. Open Carry is legal in Philadelphia with a valid License To Carry Firearms, Lt Consick (sp?) threatened to "lock me up" and "take it away" if I didn't "cover it up". He showed me a page from the PA Crimes Code that simply explains the purpose of a LTCF, but ignored the copy of the code that I had that said Open Carry was legal in Philly with a LTCF. Rather than go to jail and/or get robbed by the police, I opted to contact my state representatives.
Also, this confrontation was after I had been walking around right next to these same officers for about 3 hours with my weapon in the same position on my hip and not concealed in the slightest.

  • Good you got me reading up on the law now, 6109 states concealed, 6120 talks about manufacturer and dealer, 6108 talks about not carring unless you have a license, 6106 states concealed with a license and in section 15 (i) refers back to 6109. Everything I read I didn't see open carry anywhere, Please show it to me to better understand, Everything talks about concealed.

  • Keep up the open carry man. It takes a while to get used to police confrontations but when you do it is empowering to stand your ground against tyranny.

  • @usmcbess I open carry everywhere legally can. I live about 2-1/2 hours north of Philly and I haven't had a problem anywhere else yet (been OC'ing since 4-19-10, been CC'ing for about 10 years). Like I said in the other reply, they shook me.

During the event I realized that I didn't actually know which particular lawyer I was going to call - wrong time to have that realization, main reason I "complied". That's been remedied, but he asked me to stay away for now (can't say more right now) :)

  • love the nazi arm bands!

  • open carry neutral except for class A cities. Phila is the only class A city in Pa.

  • I think you used a great deal of common sense in handling that situation. Where most people tend to make things worse.

  • @TnT9572 Second Amendment

    Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

  • @TnT9572 Try the 2nd amendment of the US Constitution.

  • you do the right thing, they give you trouble;a bad guy always does the wrong thing and they never attempt to arrest them!that cop was an asshole that thought he had all the answers!

  • typical ignorant philly cop.

  • Pennsylvania is an Open Carry State - the only thing that makes Philadelphia "special" (aside from being third-class in the eyes of anyone with common sense) is "Title 18 § 6108. No person shall carry a firearm...in a city of...the first class unless: (1) such person is licensed to carry a firearm." Concealed or open carry doesn't even enter into it - if you have a License to Carry Firearms, you may carry as you wish in the city. Period. You do NOT have to conceal it.
