(continued) See youtube for Jimmy Fontana's performance of "La Nostra Favola" and note that the music is identical, note-for-note, to that of "Delilah."
A clear example is "Delilah," originally the Italian, "La Nostra Favola" (Our Fable), sung to the English lyrics by Tom Jones and to the Italian lyrics by Luciano Pavarotti. Tom Jones didn't write those English lyrics but his is the best known interpretation thereof. Italians are probably the most musical people in the world, so their ongoing creativity is a rich source of tunes for the English speaking world to exploit.
In the Pavarottie and friends series, many, but not all, of the songs performed consist of original music by an Italian composer, in which English lyrics were substituted. The sign of that is the English-speaking pop-singer's singing of the English lyrics, which that singer may have written, and Pavarotti's singing the ORIGINAL Italian lyrics. (continued)
