If you like period/costume drama then this could possibly be the one for you. This film opened my eyes to a 18th and 19th century Russian Culture, consumed with passion and wealth. Such a blend of politics and court intrigues that I could only imagine to be compared with the time of Maria Antoinette in Versailles.

If you like period/costume drama, this one may suit your needs and desires. Russian history has always been a mystery for us in the West. This film opened my eyes to a rich Russian Culture prior to the the October Revolution and well before that time, during the reign of Alexander II. I could only imagine that such a blend of policics combined with court intrigues could only take place in a French Royal Court of the time of Marie Antionette.
