  • SSD is a solid state hard drive (or Solid State Disk), which means there is no little spinning hard disk, as in an HDD. HDD means Hard Disk Drive, and since the SSD doesn't need to write data onto a disk like an HDD, file saving and transferring is much quicker than an HDD, considering the HDD has to write data on the disk like a CD/DVD burner.

    Hope this helps :)

  • @albk101k72 If you want to reset your admin password, then just use the OSX install disc and use the reset password utility. Replacing the hard drive will replace the entire operating system, so you would have to use the OSX disc anyway to install OSX onto the new hard drive. If you need to get your documents from the old drive, then get a USB SATA adapter, or SATA enclosure so you can copy your old files to the new drive.

  • Just put in a new hard drive along with install of Lion on my late '08 MBP. Your guide was perfect and the install went off without a hitch. Great work and thanks for the help!

  • Thanks.!!! super video...

  • @ftharcae This video won't work for your model but I have the late 2009 model MacBook Pro and it's still very easy to do yourself. The 2010 and 2009 are the same so just look up a video for them.

  • would replacing the hardrive remove the admin password? i forgot it and i need more memory anyway so i just wanted to know thanks ... please reply

  • @xwheresxmyxrice if you let apple store do it for u, it wont affect you warranty, if you do it your self and something goes wrong then the warranty is void.

  • Does changing a new hard drive void the mac warranty?
