This is the start of a project to recreate the Death Star briefing to check out how long it would take with modern kit. The original took weeks to set up and 2 minutes per frame of animation to render. This part so far has taken 30 minutes to make the model, set up the animation and 1.9 seconds per frame to render, even with photoreal motion blur and 5 layer filtering. 30 years of progress, eh?

  • I am, check out my videos

I have a battery powered Mitsubishi PK20 projector in my dome and would love to make that video play on demand

  • Would you not prefer the newer Death Star 'blueprints' projection used in the prequels, with the revolving red Death star? I could knock that one out in an hour or so.

  • There's a better version already made and uploaded, but I haven't finished the full briefing yet, what with the festive season, etc. You're welcome to it when I've finished it, I'll send you it direct.

You wouldn't be one of the R2 builders club are you? My friend worked with them once to make a CGI Artoo unit.
