This is my laptop running slackware 13 64 bit. Also, I has xfce with a few gnome things as well. And also a few Compiz effects. My laptop can handle all the fancy effects but I like the basic stuff. I also showed off some nexuiz but that plus the desktop recorder encoding on the fly did not make my laptop happy. lol

  • think slackware is faster than arch?

  • @NiGhtMarEs0nWax It depends on your install. I think really they're about the same in terms of speed. Most people on slackware tend to just pick the full install which installs the desktop and everything. Arch gives you a command line login prompt and then it's manual work from there to get a desktop.

  • @evildonkey2000 you can also do a minimal install on slack as well. I've actually switched to Arch because I like its' package management system and the Arch user repository. My desktop on it though looks almost identical to this video though. XFCE + compiz and also nautilus for the file manager.

  • what's the name of theme and icons you're using???

  • they're called Azenis. For the color I'm using XFCE-Dusk, although I had to edit the file for that to get it just right. get the azenis theme and icons from gnome-look

  • where can i get the wallpaper?

  • why is your video fast forward?

  • Omg...

  • Hi, I'm a Slackware newb and am also running Xfce. I've a few questions, if you don't mind: 1) How do I get that bar you have on top of the screen (where you have IRC, Terminal and Firefox running)? 2) How do you make your Terminal transparent/opaque so you could see the background through it?

  • Hey, what version of Xfce and compiz are you using? thanks bro.

  • Beautifull !!

  • This laptop is a 2.0GHz core 2 duo, 2 GBs ram, intel x4500hd video.
