What time of year was this taken? I'm thinking the jays had a nest nearby that they were protecting and not the cat. Probably saw both of the animals as a threat.

This brings back a great memory. My aunt used to bring her black lab, Murphy (RIP) to our house all the time when I was younger. The same exact bird would attack Murphy all the time.

To me it looks like the birds is harrasing the dog so it will get "angrier" then what it alreday is and eventuelly kill the cat.
Birds dont know the dog is only playing thou.

@MissDumyat It is easy to see that the cat has no fear of the dog and that the dog is showing no aggression towards the cat, but is only playing with it as it would play with another dog.
