A simple reading of the Bill of Rights & the US Constitution indicates that the US was legally founded as a secular nation. Jesus, Christian & even god is no where mentioned in these founding documents.

America was founded by slave owners. Wanna own slaves now?

There's also the fact that the founding fathers mostly saw nothing wrong with slavery, either.
That is, even if your premise were 100% true rather than weakly and sporadically true, true only when one ignores the whole body of evidence, the fact that the founding fathers said it doesn't exactly clinch it, does it?
And I'm saying this as a Christian myself. I just don't need a government to do the specific things a specific religion teaches.

@constealnav ?
Fail: Treaty of Tripoli, Federalist Papers, Jefferson Bible, etc. You also quote mined at least John Adams here. You did this in a very deceptive way by not putting ellipses in the passages you omitted. He did not say the founding principles were based on Christianity.

@stinky472 There is nothing deceptive at all. I quoted Adam's complete statement.......Adams said what the founders could 'unite' on was Christianity.......so that means most were Christians.
Oh and the Treaty of Tripoli means nothing....it only was saying the Christian church is not the head of the US as the church is in Britain and that is true.
