Como community, St. Paul, MN cleaned curbsides to prevent phosphorus sources from washing down storm sewers, which empty to Como Lake and the Mississippi River. Oct 16 2010 was the Como Lake Curbside Cleanup. Over 30 volunteers took part in a visible cleanup (shown here). In addition, the Como community filled 446 bags that day, preventing 89 pounds of phosphorus and 44.5 tons of future algae blooms from Como Lake and the Mississippi River!
